Join the Friends of the Farm River & Estuary for a Sustainable Farm River Agricultural Tour on Saturday, October 17, 2:30 p.m. at Cecarelli’s Harrison Hill Farm (186 Old Post Road, Northford). This is a unique opportunity to learn how William Dellacamera has transformed the large farm operation into a managed fertility system that depends on clover and other ground cover to hold soil, keep it moist and provide natural fertilizer to his produce.
Dellacamera, recently featured in the documentary A Shortened Season, has been farming for more than 40 years. Cecarelli’s Harrison Hill Farm has been family-owned for more than 100 years. The farm encompasses 125 acres of vegetable farm land, and grows crops of corn, tomatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, peppers, strawberries and sunflowers. You may be familiar with the Cecarelli name, as they provide fresh produce to local Big Y stores.
